Default Help Unplugging dash

I need help unplugging the cigarette lighter from the dash. I haven't got to the console lighter yet or the traction control plug but if there are any tricks to those I could use the advice. I have searched but all I have found is that these are hard to pull out, nothing about how to pull them out.

Thanks,

Just one big pain in the ***. There is a tab that you have to push in to get it unplugged. I think its on the bottom.

yea i found the tab that looks like the one on top but with the addition of a longer metal piece attached. Maybe my IQ just ain't high enough. If anyone else has any tips I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

If you’re talking about the one in the console, the metal sleeve must be released. If you look inside the lighter you will see 2 small squares about 1/2 down the sides. You need to push in the black plastic tab in each hole at the same time and then the metal sleeve will slide off allowing you to remove the lighter. The one in the ashtry is a simple plug, the problem is it can be at any position, just rotate it till you can see it

Good advice.

When you get to the 12v outlet in front of the center storage console, depending on the year (up to 08, I think), you'll need a tool of some sort to reach the release tab that is on top of the 12v receptacle that is attached to the front of the center console. I would like to shake the hand of whoever moved that release to the bottom of the receptacle. Thanks to the experience of some here, I used a dental tool with a thin bent end which made the task easy. I know of people who have not had such luck.

One other hint that may or may not be an issue. If you are planning c to remove the four way flasher switch, there are two releases you cannot get to unless you snap out the center air vents. Do that and you'll see them.

Good luck. Many here have been there so ask away if you hit a snag.

Thanks for the help. Sadly enough after a few hours on the SAME plug in the ashtray I gave up and went for a drive. ha ha Made me feel a lot better though. I am having someone install it tomorrow so no worries. I wish I had stuck with it a little longer and checked the posts again those were some great tips. Thanks!
