I've heard through semi-reliable unnamed sources, that the General is coming out with a new adjustable-type suspension in the '03 caddys and the '04 corvette (C6?). Apparently they came out with a way to make the fluid itself change viscosity when an electrical current is run through it. From what I understand, this is different than the rotating flange type and the electromagnets w/the little ball bearings like the caddys have now.
Does anyone have any more info on this? Is this a sign the C6 is coming out in '04? Is this just a dupe cause I'm too lazy to look?? :D
I wouldn't call it an "adjustable suspension" in the sense of the adjustments available on many contemporary race cars, but variable shock valving is a real asset to tuning a car's ride and handling to actual road conditions and the way the car is being driven. That's why you see them on high-end cars.
I've heard of this technology, and once it's proven it will probably be a good upgrade to the electronically controlled mechanical systems like F45 because it will eliminate a lot of moving parts and likely be more reliable.
