Default Jacking Pucks

Have seen ads for aluminum jacking puck as well as the rubber ones. Any thoughts on advantages/disadvantages of either?

I just bought the rubber ones for our car and the price was good. Just thought I did not need to spend money on a shiny metal puck that is under the car that my jack is going to scratch up. Save the money and spend on other mods.

I just purchased some pucks about an hour ago. The billet ones were actually less then the galvanized rubber but I went for the rubber anyhow. I don't think it makes much of a difference. I chose the rubber because I will keep them in my storage compartment in the back and I don't want it to scratch anything.

I have the billet ones. I purchased them when I had my C5. Quality product and work quite well. I keep them in one of the trunk storage bins with no problem

I am going to the BMW dealer and get a set of the rubber ones. Had them on my 99 and they snap in place and stay on at all times. I think they are around $8.00 each. I will be calling BMW dealer tomorrow to see if they have them. I believe they where for 300 series cars.

Do you attached the pucks tp the frame rails permanently or do you just use them when jacking up the car???

Funny this thread came up. I was just looking for rectangular rubber/polyureathan stock. My issue is the jack stands. They really aren't jack puck friendly and I am leary about putting the car up on them. I have two different jacks, 2 2-ton and 2 3-ton jacks. They look like the ones on bugmans site...http://www.bugmanweb.com/c6/c6index.html. The sight of those pucks on the stands just doesn't look good to me. The cradle stance on one is 2 3/8" while the other is 2 7/8 and have very little flat areas. No jacking pucks I have seen fit those dimensions. I do have the rocker panel frame rails with built in jack pucks but even those don't fit in the cradle of the jack stands. Basically keeps the dealer from screwing up my rocker panels should I have to take it in. Yesterday I bought some oak and sawed them down to the dimensions above. I did the same to a set of hockey pucks by flattening the ends to fit the dimensions. I am still not sure I am happy. Round cradles on the jacks would seem a better way of going but aren't readily available and I honestly can't put more stuff in my garage. Anywho, that is where I am at. I even had the rectangular BMW pucks but they didn't fit snug in the jack cradle.

4 hockey pucks and 4 eye bolts and about 15 minutes to drill holes and put them together. They lock in place for lifting (don't leave attached to car) and store in the trunk cubicle. Less than $10 and don't mark the frame rails.

This is as easy and inexpensive as it gets . . .I hit Sports Chalet for the pucks at $1.99 each and Ace hardware for two eye bolts at a buck each.

No reason to over think this . . . .

Do a search, the metal pucks due to their smaller diameter have bent the frame rails.
