After cleaning my windshield, i can see a signifacant number of chips in it, they are not cracks, just alot of small chips that are only really visiable after cleaning, any way to protect the windshield? only had the car 3 months and there have to close to 100 of them.
also what is the best way to clean glass? i use a microfiber towel, and it seems to leave what i would call lint on the glass, i went back over with paper towel and it took it off.
You can buy lint-free micro-fiber cloths for cleaning glass. I bought some at the auto parts store and they work fine (= no lint). Don't know what to tell you about the chips.
My Daily Driver with 17K miles looks like it went through a sand storm... the windshield has a bizzilion little tiny sand grain sized nicks and chips...
I commute on the NJ turnpike, 60 miles one way, usually in the truck lanes that just love to drop debris on the road and kick up the crap thats near the divider (NJ roads are filthy btw). If you're familiar with the NJ turnpike you're probably thinking that taking a Vette on it breaks one of the commandments...
So yes, I have chips too, I feel your pain brother, but heck, the alternative would be to not drive the Vette - no thanks...
but with that said, I do hope someone chimes in with a good solution to this
The paint looks fine, guess i have to live with the windshield chips, as i dont think its a defective windshield, as my 350Z had them all over too, i just thought i read on here about a film or something for the windshield like the clear bra for the front.

Hey-- maybe "tear-offs" like NASCAR ?
With all the particulate in the desert, our windshields look like they've been sandblasted after a couple of years out here - - in practicality, I guess they are!
My wife's is getting bad so she'll follow a dump truck once in awhile just hoping a rock will take a major chunk out of her windshield glass and the insurance company will pop for a new one !

I noticed the Corvette's glass more sensitive to pitting.
There has to be something they changed either in the glass formula or manufacturing that make these windshields easier to pit. My only guess it has to do with the auto manufacturers using thinner windshield to reduce the weight but that make them less strong. So they adjusted the glass formula/production process to allow them to flex more but that has a side effect of pitting from sand/small stones.
