Have had my 2005 coupe since 2006. Three times while driving at low speed (0-5mph), the front tire
has locked up so that the corvette is pulled in the direction of the lock-up-- the left tire twice, the right tire only once. When I informed the dealer about this, he said he's never heard of this before so he checked with General Motors and they've not heard of this problem either. Has anyone experienced this?
Not braking at the time. Am actually accelerating.
The DIC does show a message....can't remember which of the two it is, but it says something like active handeling activated or service active handeling.
I also have seen this on the forum before but can't find it anymore. Could this be the issue with the wiring harness on the telescopic steering wheels?? Service bulletin 06-02-35-002
Talked to the dealer about this and they say that the service bulletin had nothing to do with what is going on with mine. But I seem to remember something on here about a guy in Vegas who had this and had an accident because of it.
Not wishing to have an accident myself. I appreciate all the help.
If it says "active handling" it means that active handling is kicking in due to sensors telling the computer the car is sliding in a turn. It will apply the brake to selected wheels to try and correct the slide. If the car is not sliding at the time, it means that one of the sensors is bad or the computer is getting wrong info and acting on that wrong info.
The first step is have the dealer see if there are any error codes stored in the system. If there are no codes, it is going to be hard to pin point without it acting up on them. They can poll the sensors with the tech 2 and make sure they are putting out the right voltage, but if all the sensors are within spec, it will be hard.
If it is acting up on you and you need to get it to stop, you can shut off the traction and active handling systems by pressing the button in the center console a few times until it shows everything off.
