while i was waxing my 09 VY vette i noticed the the passenger door was not flush with the rear quarter panel, i then checked the driver side and it was also not flush but not as bad. it appeares to be in the middle area not the bottom. i removed that little rubber piece but it did nothing. does anyone have a fix for this or should i take it to a good paint shop. i would take it to my dealer but they are very small and they dont have a body shop.
It's a warranty repair. Mine came in with a scrape under the edge of the door and, like you, my dealer doesn't have their own body shop. They do, however, have a great shop they contract out to. Your dealer must also have some arrangement with a local body shop.
My repair was finished yesterday and is impossible to detect. The damaged bottom edge is as smooth as glass and I can't even tell where they applied paint. Your doors are an easy alignment fix and should be handled by your dealer and no one else. Don't try to fix it yourself.
i dont know why this happened but at one point my door wouldnt even open it was so far off, i couldnt get into the car because the front of the door was hitting the front fender, i opened it as much as i could and then slammed it closed and its been okay ever since but that was not fun and sort of embarrasing on such an expensive car
Ed (Pipedreams) came out with a clear cone-shaped piece that goes on the bottom of the door as a bumper to hold it in proper alignment with the leading dog-leg edge of the rear fender.
Mine was catching chips and was nicked up until I intalled this little piece of smart engineering - -I touched up the nicks and not a mark since.
If I'm reading your post correctly, this could be worth considering:

has this been a problem with several vettes or just a few, i pay 50k for a vehicle i should be able to get it fixed without using after market products! has anyone had this corrected at their dealers.
Couldn't open my driver's door at times. Would get hung up on front fender. I took mine back to the dealer with a body shop and they adjusted the fender, no problems since. About 2 months later same thing happened on the passenger side & the dealer adjusted that side, no problems since.

My left door was like that. It required an adjustment of both hinges and the door striker.
I took it to the dealer, dealer made it worse and broke the door trim panel retainers. I had to take a vacation day, drive to Anaheim to get new retainers, did the work my self, and now the door fits well to the quarter and the fender with proper hinge and latch alignment.
Mine is an '05, so I also added the factory rubber bumber to the lower rear of the door opening. This keeps the door from closing too far inboard to the quarter panel. Keeps the door flush to the quarter panel.
