Can u help me run from Gustva ?
I live between Baton Rouge & New Orleans, only have a carport (no enclosed garage) . Looking for an enclosed space to store my 08 redhead during Gustva should he bear down on us as currently predicted.
Anyone have any ideas?
If Gustva is to hit us head-on or to the east, I will relocate to Baytown Texas where my son lives, otherwise I'm in need ..................\

My suggestion would be to drive 150 miles inland and ride out the storm. If it is what they say and the levees don't hold were gonna have another Katrina. A garage isn't gonna protect you or the car. I'm glad to see that they're starting their evac plan now. No lives need to be lost this time
I agree with steve. Anyone who lets you store your car in/on their property can be held liable for the damage anyways. Just drive out of town with your most valued items.
Wish I could help, but my garage will be (is) full. Just a note, I saw on the local news broadcast that the hotels in the Shreveport, La and the Longview, Tx areas have been booked up and only a few rooms are available.
I live in Palm Beach County Florida and when we were getting hammered a couple of years ago we would take our extra cars to the local airport parking garage. The sides of the garage are open but the cars fared well.
I feel your pain. I live in Ft. Lauderdale we are always under the gun for hurricanes. Before I bought my house I would take my car a large mall with parking garage and park in the safest place I could find, never had a problem. Just an idea for you.

Storm chasers use parking garages as a very safe place to ride out the storm. Get on an upper floor in the center of the building and almost nothing can get to it.

I feel your pain. I live in New Orleans, West Bank area. I'm going to take my Baby and head to Jackson, MS., Fiancee's home, with 2-car garage. Be safe.

All this hospitality is just what you would expect from the Forum members – great to hear all of this. Those of us need to do the same during Mardi Gras one year.
Get while the gettin's good. My family is on the way up to Dallas right now. I would love to offer a spot to you, but unless you want to sleep in the yard, I'm all out. The family has claimed all of my spare space! Good luck from a fellow Louisianian. Stay safe!

What, everyone come down there and park in the OP's garage during Mardi Gras? Mike, you had better start building a bigger garage...
