Default AVIC-Z3 Installed!

Had the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 installed this week...and so far so good. I'm still in the learning process on Nav functions. On-Star still works however it shuts off the unit when I access it...I'll probably end up cancelling after my introductory period though. I found some AVIC backgrounds in the Audio/Electronics section and made some minor alterations. I have a few others which would have you and your monitor sweating:o...anyway thanks as always for the help and advice.

Amazing how good these units really are. I have had my Eclipse for 3 years and love it. I am sure you will never get tired of that mod.

did you have the bypass installed so you can access all functions all the time???? Its much better that way. I don't watch movies while I drive, but I do like to be able to input addresses and I also have a front view camera that I feed through the video input and out to a camcorder port. Without the bypass, I couldn't use it.

Yes I can use all the functions while in motion. When I got it installed in my vet the soft ware to bypass was not out by the time the install was done that had the info and it worked great

Looks good man! I love my AVIC 700BT also. Do you have the 3D landmarks option and can you see them while in nav mode on the screen?

Yes I have the 3D map mode and it does appear on the screen...all unit functions are operable while vehicle is in motion. I do need to take it back to the installer though for a few more adjustments...the Nav unit does not go into night mode display...on-star chimes, seat memory are lost...and the unit shuts down when on-star is accessed. I found out that there is a module that needs to be installed to retain all on-star chimes which include the seat memory. The unit actually sounds pretty good even with the bose speakers...all-in-all I'm happy with my choice

Nice! This is definitely one upgrade I would consider. How is Pioneer with updating their software, especially mapping?

Looks good. I have a d3 in my vette and I love it. My unit shuts down(screen +music) when I use onstar as well. I don't know if that can be fixed. Mine comes right back on after I finish with onstar so no big deal for me.

Could you send me some of those screen sweating backgronds?????

This is the unit that I want to give myself for Christmas. Is this something that any good installer can do or do I have to find a dealer who sells these?

On all Z3s, its the later 2 wire bypass and is simple:
