Decided to stop at Crater Lake on my home from a wedding in southern Oregon. It was a beautiful day but cold, about 45 degrees.
I love this car. It was so comfortable and handled so well on the trip. I averaged about 80 mph the whole down and back from Portland to Ashland. Even with my 4.10 gears I was getting 24 to 28 mpg.
I over heard Jay Leno comparing Corvettes to other exotic cars. He made a comment about how often the exotics break down and how every little noise causes people to freak out and think their car is about to break. He insisted the corvette was not like that and how you can drive a Vette without fear. I agree whole heartedly. These cars were intended to be driven.
Good to hear about your great experience with the vette. I can't argue with you about comfort on a long drive, the vette is very comfortable for long trips. Handling is right on and you feel as if nothing will go wrong and it never does. Jay Leno sure knows what he's talking about and vettes are built to be driven not be garage queens like the many exotics now a days.

Nice shot. I need to get back up there before the snow hits. I loafed down to the northern Cali coast and back, averaged 25mpg for the trip! That was with a little carbon clean out to boot!
