Default Telescoping Wheel ?

Hi all. I'm in the midst of a day long test drive of a Hertz ZHZ. The 2 things that have come to mind so far (and I did already search):

1. Does the telescoping wheel option actually extend the wheel further out from the dash than the 1/2lt packages? One person commented it might be 2". Please confirm.

2. I notice that in my comfortable driving position, that my right knee hits the dash occasionally. I'm 6' and my seat is all the way back. I'm a little concerned that in a front collision my knee would be history.

Any comments are appreciated.

The telescoping wheel helps you adjust the steering wheel where you want it. It comes out closer to you or you can move it away from you.

I'm 6'2" and if you adjust everything correctly you should have a good seating position. I have MN6 and I needed to get the adjustment comfortable for the clutch pedal and shifter.

1. The 3LT with the telescoping steering column will give you a couple of inches of forward and backward movement over that of the 1LT / 2LT without. The base and 2LT model only have the up and down tilt wheel adjustment but not the forward and backward that you get with the 3LT and the telescoping column.

2. The frame of the C6 has a crumple zone just aft of the front wheels and just in front of the rear wheels. In the event of forward collision the frame will "kneel" as the frame deflects to dissipate the impact away from the passenger compartment. The panel that your knee is resting against is a courtesy panel that is made of a molded plastic and it will not likely survive frontal impact as well.
