Default Ideas on future pricing

New to forum's, yes i search the net alot and have formulated some answers of my own but I WANT more experienced member opinions. Before the summer of 2010 I will be buying a NEW SS camaro or used Vette. I am wondering what price range you think a 2008 vette will cost. OPTIONS- NPP exhaust I am interested in - and the Z-51 package- only if within this post someone gives a clear answer on how much the z-51 package adds in straight line performance!!! (due to alternate gearing in manual transmition/tires/ etc) Non-convertible. another BIG question I can't seem to figure out is how much better/worse is the LS3 vs LS2 , I fell 30hp more is worth the cost to get a 08, but an 06-07 may do it if the power differance isn't noticable. THANKS for the help! Both cars will be street machines, possiblly used at the dragstrip ONE time for fun but will mostly be used as a street machine.

sunmer of '10 is almost 2 years off from now. I doubt anyone can make a serious guess-timate. If you use say, the past 2 years, it's really unfair, but maybe.....I'd the two year old car today might be as much as 15K off msrp.

Keep watching here for the next year or so. Prices are very dependent on the economy, as you can imagine, which influences everything including production and sales.

Wouldn't hazzard a guess as to where the used Corvette market will be in two years from now.

Regarding the Z51 gearing. It is good for a tenth in the zero to sixty times. It has the same horsepower as the non Z51 car. The gear ratio is geared more aggressively for accelerating out of a turn at a road course or parking lot autocross. It actually can hurt you in the quarter mile as you will likely need to shift as you approach the finish line where the standard MN6 will be able to hold third gear longer.

You can feel the 30 hp. The LS2/LS3 debate will live on for some time. I have an LS2 2005 C6. The LS3 is a great motor and you can feel the power. I certainly would consider another LS2 if it came down to cost, options or color choices. The Corvette C6 is a pretty damn good performer in either power plant.

Prices should be about what they are for a 2006 today. You generally can plan on $2000 per model year deduction, plus mileage deductions.
As for straight line, get one with the A6 F55 option. For fun and track days, the Z-51 is the way to go. The advantage of a used car is that you can get one set up the way you want it, and not pay the "Corvette tax" on the items.

It should be closer to $5,000.00 per year from MSRP.

The F55 is a system where the shocks can be electronically adjusted from inside the car. They have two settings, SPORT and TOURING. I have have the Z51 Performance package on my two Corvettes. I will tall you that the Z51 package is worth every cent you pay for it. The manual transmission with the Z51 pkg is the MZ6 trans and it has lower gears in it that makes the C6 just leave a MN6 or an automatic behind you at the starting line.

If you want to wait for the new Camaro then go for it. It will have 400hp and the car will be close to 4000 pounds. It will have 4 wheel independent syspension but will never come close to Corvette performance. One more thing that many people don't know, the LS3 in the Corvette actually has 462hp at the crank by just adding a cold air intake system due to the extremely restrictive stock air cleaner.
