Anyone with a vert getting this DIC message - I have indexed and re-indexed the windows, opened the trunk and ensured that the mico-switch was depressed. I also get a random windows going down when exiting the car after the door is closed. Any good ideas to fix this would be appreciated.
I had this same thing happen to me about two months after I got my car.
On the drivers side above the wind shield where the pin goes in, there is a switch. All I did was pop the cover off and give the metal actuator a slight bend and my problem was cured.
That saved me a trip to the dealer and wait for an hour for them to do the same thing.
With all of the coupe owners who have had the top fly off after forgetting to latch it, you would think GM could add something like this to the coupes too.....

Thats just what I was thinking as I was reading this!!

Very informative! I don't have this issue, but if I did, I would not have known about this one. Thanks!

I think my Acura NSX had that feature.
BUT they would also need to have a switch to tell when the top was actually installed on the car.
Cause if you didn't the light would always be on when the top was off BUT if they had a switch in the hatch to tell the car the top was stored in the holder that could work BUT what if you decided to keep the top at home?!?
GM thinks it would be more profitable to keep those switches out and sell you a replacement top

Seems to me like they're giving them away rather than selling them, Robert. At least during some kind of warranty period they seem to be....

I may be mistaken, but I think that the switch on the top of the windshield is the only one that causes that message, so check it. Might be engagement as was discussed above, or might be a bad switch or connection to the switch.
I tried prying the contact switch out (drivers side), its pretty flimsy - it didn't work. I just think the computer is confused because when I get the DIC message that the top is not secure the next message I get is that the trunk partition is not secure.
With that said I am going to disconnect the battery and see what happens - I will post the results.

I am NOT a member of the FRC, nor do I want to be. This would be nice to see, and help some of those FRC members.
