So I am ready to pull the trigger and get some race ramps. As luck would have it, the D#@n search function is down. So, I could use a little help with answers to a few questions. I have an '08, stock height.
1. What size ramps work the best, the 56" or 67"?
2. Is having 10" of clearance vs. 8" worth the extra $100?
3. Does having the front of the car elevated on ramps keep the oil from draining out properly? (sorry for this dumb question, but I've owned nothing but trucks and you don't need ramps or jacks for oil changes).
Just received my R.R. XT-2's today. From my research with everyone, both seem to work fine with our vettes. I wanted to be as high and them being as long as these would allow, so that's why the XT's and I also went with their new 2-piece design, so that I could remove the section for sliding under from the mid section if I wanted. Some don't care about it either way but what the hey. I even bought the 10" cradles so the vette would be completely level for oil changes. Some say it doesn't have to be level and others say it does. Again, what the hey. Shoot, I even got their chocks for good measure. Might as well give um as much money (that I don't have) at one time.
I'm doing this once, along with getting my jack, and I didn't want to fool with prolonging the decision making any longer. ALOT of info here (when the search is fixed). You can't go wrong either way.
Thanks. You sound like me. My floor jack is busted, so I'm about to flip the bill on a new one of those too. I guess you've got to pay to play.
You're welcome Damion. There's a wealth of info from the great bunch of guys here. Some of my friends in particular have been very helpful. And it sure does cost to play. Ironic that you have to pay so much to do the work yourself. Better that than taking it to someone who may screw it up for you.
I too received my Race Ramps today along with a pair of chocks. I got the two-piece 56-in ramps. My Vette is lowered and the the ramps will work great for me.

Thanks for the picture. It looks like even with only the 8" lift you still have plenty of room to crawl underneath.

Youre welcome. As far as the front end being elevated, I'm sure there might be a little residual oil left after draining, but nothing that I'm concerned about.
