Default Key Fob Setting

I just got a 05 C6 and am still getting used to all the bells and whistles I love the car but I have a question.. I keep the key fob in my pocket, and it works like a charm..
As I approach the car the doors unlock, I get in and hit the start button , the seat, mirror etc. all adjust... When I leave the car it automatically locks... THAT is my problem, I asked mt grandson to get me something I had left in the car, he went and came back said the car was locked..

I have since rest the option so IF I want to lock the car I manually press the button on the key fob.. My reasoning for this is when my car is in the garage, I don't want to have to go and get the Key Fob every time I want to get in the car..

I also race it and at the track it with about 100 other Vetts (Englishtown) and I don't want it locked every time I walk away.. Do most owners set it to auto-lock or manual like I did..

When I'm anywhere near the car or in the car, my fob stays in my pocket, so I've got mine set to automatically lock the car and flash the lights.

There is one statement you made that I'd like to correct. If you've got your car locked, by any process, it does not unlock as you approach the car. It only unlocks when you either press the unlock button on the fob, or when you put your hand in the door handle and press on the membrane. This last method requires the fob to be near the door, of course.

I agree the auto lock is , but it's also a pain!

How did you program this? Mine doesn't do that like my other cars. On this C6, I always have to hit the memory button to recall my seat and mirror settings. Auto exit position works though, the seat would slide back when I exit the car.

He's obviously got an automatic. Only those with manual trannies have to push the button.

Exactly... Yes I had to look around to find an Automatic with the 3.15 and what I liked, because I drag race it.. and to be competitive over the full season it requires "Consistency" over 1 or 2 real fast or quick runs...

With my 96 Automatic I always finished in the top 6 in our Corvette Challenge at Englishtown, and we almost always have over 100 drivers who race in the point series...

Thanks for the tip on unlocking I didn't know if it was locked and the fob was in my pocket I could just open the door without hitting the unlock button... Now that really makes it a no-brainer.. I will leave it set to stay unlocked... and lock it manually if need be, & its no big deal to get in as I just have to open the door anyway..

Oh I also have to get a new sig photo. to update this older one...

I don't want the car to auto-lock when its at home in my garage, so I un-programmed the DIC for this. For the few times that I lock it when I am out, I just hit the lock button on the door as I get out. This works nicely when the top is down, keeps golf clubs safe in the trunk.

GM lawyers don't want your seat moving while you're trying to hold the clutch in during engine start.

Ahh... make sense. That's why the seat moves on my CTS-V as soon as I insert the key, and that happens before I hold down the clutch.
Thanks Jim for the explanation.
