My 05 will not let me in!! I was out of town for two weeks, now my 05, A4 will not let me in. Neither FOB works, neither emergency key works!! Nothing, maybe DBS but not normally on an A4.
Any ideas? on how I can get in to at least get to the battery or other items to check them out...It is an early C6 actually four years old in late Aug.
Thanks....Joe
You put the key under the back area and turned it and it didn't work? It didn't pop the lid? The key is mechanical, has nothing to do with electrical system.
Just thought of something: did you push down a little on the hatch/lid as you turned the key? Sometimes that releases some of the tension.
And btw, you are probably due for a new battery, as you already know.
I had a similar problem when my battery went dead. Ther was a piece of a plastic bag in the latch mechanism, I had to push down quite hard then turn the key and the gently pry up on my trunk lid, I have a Vert. I don't think the coupe latch is much different from the Vert. The key just turns a cylinder nothing electrical comes into play when using the key to open the hatch.
A second option would be to connect jumper cable or a jump box to the starter wire and a good frame ground from under the car. That should give you enough power to use the fob to open the doors or hatch.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I tried everything except the battery idea. Nothing worked. I will have the dealer pick it up on Monday. I weekend without it is ruff.

Lesson learned...everyone needs to check out their emergency key and make sure it works. In the four years I did not!!!
If you connect a battery charger to the starter solenoid post as shown and wait a few minuets the doors will open and then you can charge the battery or buy a new one which you need.
This is the starter end of the positive cable attached to the battery.
All you guys (and gals) are great...Special thanks to VET4LES and Shortski...The Battery/ battery charger to the starter worked. As soon as I plugged the charger in the lights flashed, I touched the door pad and it openned...
Again Corvette Form is great and comes thru...Thanks....Joe Adams

I have been gone 3 days on travel. This morning....5 minutes ago...I went to go for a drive. No power. Either I didn't have it in Reverse or my battery took a no indication nose dive.
Neither key is releasing the trunk.
Where under the car do I find the starter, left, right, as you're looking at the car or the car's left right, etc.... The car is in a very tight space so trying to get it lifted and up to get under it is going to a reeeeeaaaaal fun thing to achieve.

could you please tell me where the starter solenoid is located (right front lesft front etc.)
I hardly have room in my garage to jack up the car and don't have the right jack. do i really need to do that in order to get to it?
Where exactly should I be connecting the battery charger to? and what about the graound wire from the battery charger, where should it be connected to?
Jack up the right front and crawl under. You will see the solenoid and connect the red or positive charger cable to the copper post. The ground can connect to any grounded bolt or frame member.

Did the key work then??? I am finding it hard to believe that the key didn't work...anyone else have an idea why this would be so.
