Default 2008 & 2009 Windshield Issues

I spotted the following over on Corvette Blog and just thought I would pass it along in case anyone has had a problem. I myself have not had any issues with my 2008 Coupe.

2008 & 2009 Corvette Windshield Issues

GM sent out a message to its dealers today letting them know that they are beginning to look into customer complaints with 2008 & 2009 Corvette windshields that have cracks, pits, are broken or distorted. They have asked that dealers contact their GM representative immediately before replacing any windshields that could have one, or all of these problems.

As a result, windshields will be placed on parts return for a period of time.

My buddy's 08 developed 2 small cracks right at the very top. There were no visible impact marks but the dealership still didn't want to know anything. Claimed he must have done but they were on different sides of the windshield. finally got his insurance company to replace it but it now it sounds like it could be a GM problem. Must have some bad glass because there's no difference in the windshield configuration from 05 to 09.....

Mine developed a crack on the passenger side -- at the very top at 2500 miles -- inside only. It annoys me only because I can see it from the driver's seat. From the outside it is invisible -- it is all in the dark area at the top. I was going to live with it, and still might, but I'll have to rethink that decision.

Back to the top for the evening crowd.

It looks like a few have experienced problems. I would for sure contact the dealer about this one if I had a problem. I higly doubt the dealer would do any glass work and would refer you to someone else while they pay for the repair.

I'll be keeping an eye on mine. Just under 900 miles on my '08 so far.

Had mine replaced last month (2008...3 months old) from a stress crack that started just above the registration sticker and grew to 12-14 inches...BTW the dealer (Paramus Chevy) put it through warranty with no issues and did a great job installing the new one...

See, there's a good GM and dealer story. Sorry about the crack though. Glad to hear GM & your dealer took care of you.
