Default Chuck CoW tuning

I was lucky enough to get in and have Chuck from Westchester tune my car ('07 C6 A6 Z51) this weekend and all I can say is WOW

I thought I had done a few mods (BB fusion exhaust w/headers, vararam intake, mild chip retune) to make my car pretty hot, but after 1 hr with Chuck, I now have a rocket. He has made this car have unreal acceleration at any speed. Best $400 you could ever spend. GM should send these cars out with all of this potential turned on, but since they don't, couldn't recommend anything that has changed my car any more than this.

And as for Chuck, what a guy. My turn came at 1:00 am saturday night and he had another one to do after mine! what committment to doing the right thing for his customers.

Thanks again to Monte and the Air Capital Corvette club in Wichita for setting this up.

I have an 07 A6 Z51.

What is all involved in the tune?

Is the Transmission Tune seperate from the Engine Tune?

or is it real simple? Like pay $400 and buy a t-stat and your good to go ?

Please give us the start to finish

Chucks tunes are awesome, but I'm not willing to give up my 100K warranty.

My plan is to buy a PCM ($400?) for tuning

Then if it ever goes in put back the factory pcm (and tune history)?

Whats wrong with my plan?

I really cant stand the hunting and missed shifts. Even torque management doesnt do a good job with shift shocks etc.

I bought a 6spd automatic to perform as smooth as the many other 5speed and 6speed automatics I've driven.

This one is the worst

Do you have a 160 degree stat put in as well?
If so what temp is it running at?

I got a Chuck Cow tune at Carlisle plus 160 stat and I'm running around 190 degrees?
Doesn't sound right to me...

Yes. It's fine.

160 stat doesn't mean it will keep the coolant at 160.

Chucks tune does both the engine and transmission at the same time. He literally has every Corvette tune program ever on his laptop so he can put you back to stock or any point in between at any time. Your warranty is not voided as far as I know. If you take your car in for service, they’re not even going to know.

He hooks you car up and you hold his computer in the passenger seat as he drives it at a variety of speeds to fully load what your car is currently doing before he changes anything. Once he sees where your car is, then he can change the million things that that computer is doing every second, from idle to full throttle to maximize the potential of this mean machine. He does tell you to change the stat to a 160 and I have one but haven’t had a chance to put it in yet. That is simply to make the car run a little cooler since you are able to get more out of it if you try to.

I have a 05 A4 Z51 ... I have been racing my C4 (drag Racing) since it was new.. I used to live in Ct. I race at Englishtown I got to know some of the NJ tuners...

I bought my C6 used in NJ it had 5000 miles on it.. I put in a 160 T Stat and before I ever heard of Chuck Cow I had Cartek tune my car.

I cant complain it runs at 175-190 all day with the AC on...

It shifts fast and no lag during shifting... however I'll take a ride over to Chucks place..

My Sig is my old C4...

What is wrong with that is that you are wasting your money on the new PCM.
In order for the new one to work in your car, Chuck will have to flash in your VIN number and have it relearn all the security features and everything else. Once that is done, your stock computer will be useless to you.
It would be a big hassle for you to keep flashing and re-flashing between the two.

Do get a tune from Chuck CoW, you will love your car, and your car will love you

Default Chuck cow tune

Yes this guy is awesome, I recieved what was the first of his A6 tunes last year here in Vegas while chuck was in town. Lets say that to this very moment I am still smiling, I hope you are reading this Chuck and hope you are back again this year at Sema, if so I would certainly like to meet up and get re adjusted if time permits. For those who doubt tuning and worrie about warranty issues plase call Chuck and get the straight scoop and besides your Vette will never be the same, thanks Chuck.

I had the same issue also but I would suggest checking this thread out befiore you after market tune. It solved the A6 slip shift and gear hunt, also eliminated my rear end coast down clunk - to an intermitent plunk. In addition Torque mgmnt is not as intrusive.

Don't forget....I now have the ability to UPGRADE THE 06 and 07 cars with the 08 A6 software.....I'm not aware that anyone else has got it working yet, for cars with trans problems....IT HELPS!

Call me if you need to know more.

Can't say for sure, but I had a GM regional engineer perform the service or at least advise the service tech on the proceedure.
