I drove a C-5 ZO6 for ~4 years. I now have a 2007 with ~4K miles. Right from the begining at low speeds, maneuvering in parking lots, etc. it creaks and groans like an old man. I don't hear anything like it at high speed.

Is this normal for the C6 version?

I have not noticed anything on my C6. You should check and make sure everything is tight.

Yes, it's the clutch packs in the LSD. There are a million threads about it.

There are other very distinctive noises, but the LSD chatter is very common.

take your ride to a Chevrolet dealer who sells and services Corvettes(not all Chevy dealers do...)and ask the Service Manager if s/he is aware of the GM Technical Service Bulletin(TSB) 07-04-20-002A regarding noisy clutch packs in the differential. The problem will be fixed as a warranty claim so no charge to you.

I did exactly this today and the noise is gone. I was in and out of the dealers in an hour and I'd shown up without an appointment! Of course, when I took the Service Manager out for a spin the car would not make any noise (another Murphy Law) but the SM believed me and ordered the fix regardless. Once done, the Tech who performed the work took me out for a test ride and put the car through about nine figure eights: no noise! I was impressed with their service and really pleased with the results. Thanks to Tom Harris Chevrolet, Nanaimo, BC.

This seems to primariily afflict Z06s, but it can show up in base cars too. It could be the clutch packs, or it could be something else.

It is annoying as hell.
