question about electrical please...
my salesman told me that when I have the top off (I have a coupe) to always leave the car in reverse when parked or it drains the battery.
Truth?
thanks.

it's true on a 2005 car, but has nothing to do with the top

He's confused or mis-informed. The '05 MN6 had to be left in reverse to avoid draining the battery, but it had nothing to do with the top, and it does not apply to any other year or transmission...

A salesman once told me that the fobs had to be stored over 50 feet away from the car or the battery would get drained.

Wow, that's like he visited the forum but only read the thread titles, never actually clicked on any of them.
The 2005 C6 (only) manual transmission car is required to be parked in reverse or it will drain the battery. This is independant of the body style or roof on or off. This ended with a software change for the introduction of the 2006 model year.
The convertible has a switch to make sure the top is either up and latched or down and stowed before driving the car....but it has nothing to do with the battery.
I will give him a C- for trying and he had at least one fact contained in there that earlier C6 models needed to be left in reverse. You have nothing to worry about with your '08 coupe. Park it how ever you'd like. Reverse is recommended but it has nothing to do with battery life.

Also, if you have recently dusted the car, it must be put in reverse.

Now lets's hear from all the A4 and A6 owners;
Time to bitch about having to shift to Park when you turn the car off.
