Default Cross beam adapter help

Just need to know from those who have the adapter, what is the max height of the end pads when adjusted up as high as they can go.

Anyone who has one, would you mind taking a quick measurement or tell me what the manual says. I'd like to order one today if the height is what I need. I called Northern Tool cs and they were useless for info and really could care less for my business.

I'm not at home now, but I'll try to remember to look when I get home. I think the answer will be about 3-4 inches of screw adjustment.

5 1/8" extra lift height added when fully extended vs. having no adapter at all.

Thanks Russ. So it's 5 1/8" total (which is the bar thickness + full pad extention), correct?

If that is the total, I'm now wondering if that's even going to be enough to get those cradles under. I only used a 2x6 piece on my lift, so roughly using the adapter would only be about 2 5/8" higher (not using the 2x6) than what I have currently. Hmmm . . . I may need a lift that will go higher than my current one.

Yes, 5 1/8" total. If you were using a 2X6, then you should be be gaining 3 5/8", if that makes a difference.

That's about what I measured too. But if you unbolt the safety chains you could screw the pads in about another inch and still have an inch or so into the threads. Some people might not be comfortable doing that, but for the weight of 1/2 a Corvette I'd be willing to. So a little over 6 inches if you want to do that.

I'm a little leary of using the full height of the adapter and the 2x6. I'll check it out.

I think Gordon is saying the adapter is 3 5/8 over the 2x4

Guess I'm trying to get it as high as I can while maintaining safety. Just didn't take in the "travel" distance into account where the tires actually start to come off of the ground. So I need 10" (cradle height) + 8" (distance from ground up to the cross arm) + ? (travel height from when the tires actually start to lift off the ground).

That is correct. I was just trying to politely point out the difference between the 2X6 and the adapter is 3 5/8" and not 2 5/8".

Exactly right. This is what happens when I've got too many things going on at once. Thinking the right thing and then writing it down wrong. Thanks for the correction.
