Default Trunk carpet gap

My 08 Vette coupe has a problem with the rear trunk carpet. In the rear hatch area, the carpet does not come all the way up to cover the wiring between the carpet and the rear end.

Looking straight down u can see the wirings behind the carpet where the hatch is.

I looked at an 05 Coupe and noticed the carpet is tucked underneath the fiberglass and no wiring is exposed.

Dealer allegedly replaced my trunk carpet, but the gap is still there.

Is this normal??

Any thoughts?

When I look in my rearview mirror, I can see wires running horizontally just beneath the hatch latch weatherstriping and just above the edge of the trunk carpet. There is a very small gap at this transition and the wires show through.

Is that the area you're talking about? I've been meaning to look into re-routing or just moving the wires down out of the way but I've forgotten about it... until now!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say you have a problem. I am not entirely sure I even understand what you are describing, so a picture would help. What I can say with a good deal of conviction is that nowhere in the hatch area should you be seeing exposed wires.

I'll try to get some pics. But there is a gap between the top of the cargo carpet where the cargo net goes and the hatch locking mechanism.

N2F seems to have the same problem I have

I have a totally different issue with the back carpet on my 08 coupe. The end of the floor carpet in the hatch area that is closest to the sets is starting to curl up bad all along the line. Is anyone else seeing this on thier coupe???? I can actually push down the carpet several inches before it lays flat on the floor of the hatch. I check out another 08 at the dealership yesterday, and it does the same thing. What's up with that????
