Well I was on a nice cruise today in the Timpanogas area of Utah. It is a very narrow (13 feet or so) two lane road but beautiful this time of the year. It is very curvy and as I was coming up to a curve a white Toyota decided to use 3/4 of the road. I had to put one wheel off the road which of course hit a pot hole. I felt a vibration instantly. They didn't stop and I wasn't able to safely turn around for about 5 minutes. I'm just glad I didn't take out the Toyota or the hillside.
I checked the local dealer and they said $401 for the rim which seems low compared to a forum vendor on this site. They are closed right now. Discount Tire (I stopped by the one that I have done business with) said maybe I can get it repaired at this local wheel repair place. I called them up and they said they can repair all wheels with their new $50k machine unless it is bent bad of course. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.
I guess I'm just thankful that I didn't get in an accident either with the Toyota or the nice hard rocks. It pisses me off though because the local CC is going for a drive tomorrow. The other time I had to cancel I had a nice roofing nail in my tire.

Time to invest in a backup set of wheels and tires? I still have my stock polished wheels... just need a good deal on some tires...? I also have a scratched(after market) wheel; also deciding on repair vs a new set... Not sure if I can find/ buy just one vs a set?
I was doing around the speed limit and on my side of the road. Usually I"ll stay behind another car so he would be like.a decoy for idiot drivers. But with the Vette they just pull over and let me pass.
I'm taking it to a popular rim repair shop in the morning.
I'm sure hitting the other car or the mountain would have caused more problems so I guss I'm thankful.
The repair shop over the phone didn't tell me it will take 3-5 days. I didn't want to leave the car down there for that long. I just ordered a rim from my local dealer for $450 which was about $180 lower then a forum vendor here that sells parts. I'm going to pay the core charge which is part of the $450 and get the other rim fixed so I have a spare front rim.
I looked around and replicas were in the high $200 range. I couldn't find any take offs.
