Opinions On Dash Letter Inserts
As I have not had any success with the vinyl dash letter inserts adhering properly, am thinking of going with the stainless steel ones which use 3M tape. Would like some opinions on how you folks think they would look with a cashmere interior. Thanks!

I’ve found that the prep work is the key. Thoroughly clean the area with soap and water. Dry completely and use the alcohol swipes that are usually supplied with the letters to remove anything the soap and water didn’t remove. Press the letters into the insert of the dash. Wait a few hours and press again. Try not to touch again for 24 hours. I’ve had the vinyl letters on for almost 2 years without any problems. Hope this helps.

I would think it will be best to use a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol and then go over the indentation of the letters and follow above instructions.
You can even go over the lettering once appilied, with a dry Q-Tip that way you can have even pressure for pressing the letters down.
That;s just my opinion.

I'd be concerned about the letters, especially the SS type, if the passenger side air bag went off. I know the lid portion should be pushed down and out of the way by the air bag when it deploys but it's still a concern. Think I'll leave the dash alone.....for now.

you passenger wont appreciate that in a front end collision.. he/she will be tattoo'd for life.. if they survive...(air bag will propel them straight out)..or..they could become projectiles in pieces, you might get one in the eye...... think about it.

One of the forum vendors has posted that his lawyer will not let him sell them for this very reason.

I purchased the steel ones and had them painted.
This is the only pic I've got of them. I really like them.

I got the cashmere letters from RPI Designs. They came with the 3M
accellerator. Used a Q-tip to clean and apply the accel. Peeled off the backing, and they stuck great.
I love the look.

Here's some in my 05, been on for three years no problems.
As to acting as shrapnel, don't sit on that side. On the 05 I can turn off the passenger air bag.
Comes in handy for when I have my dogs in the car, the air bag deploying would probably kill them. I have seat belt harnesses for both of them.

Do what you want to do, not what everyone else wants. It's your car. I used the flexible domed ones that feel like rubber. They came from one of our supporting vendors, but can't remember where. They stuck fine after proper prep, and got tighter over time.
