How do you remove those %$!@& bulbs from the vanity mirrors
I bought some LED's I want to install and have searched the forum for how to remove them as if you have seen them they are in such a confined space.
1) Wrapping them in masking tape - no way to get the tape all the way around as the back side has the little plastic heat shield
2) Dental floss - can get enough grip
3) Prying with a small blade screw driver - no way to get any leverage on the base of the bulb to pop it out
4) Tweezers - no grip on glass they just slip off
5) Needle nose pliers - have not tried this as I am sure it will break the bulb and I did not want to deal with the nightmare of trying to get up a broken bulb socket especially in such a confined space for tools.
Any other ideas?

Mr Brian! Masking tape DOES work, its a lil hard to get all around, but I've done it twice very recently. it is still a pain, but I got one out VERY easily, the other was more work. Still the best way in my opinion.
Ed's method sounds good too, never tried that.

I think I'll try the masking tape and the needlenose.
Did you slide the tape between the bulb and that little plastic heat shield at the back?

Instead of masking tape, I used electrical tape. You'll still have the same problem with getting it back there but since it's stickier you don't have to get it in as far. Pull the fuse too, It's pretty bright with the bulbs on...

tie a half-hitch with a piece of fishing line (fishing line is fairly stiff and will stand up enough to be pushed behind the bulb).
Thread the loop over the bulb and press the knot against the side of the light socket with your fingertip, then gently pull on the line (sliding the fishing line behind your fingertip) to close the loop around the back of the bulb.
After that, wiggle the bulb back and forth till it pops out.

Be careful of the switches while you have the bulb covers off. Without the covers in place it’s easy to knock a switch loose and end up with a pile of little parts on the floor. (Ask me how I know).

Tape and needle nose pliers works, but I use duct tape, it's a bit thicker and I can get a better grip on the bulb. Wiggle the bulb a bit instead of pulling directly out, it works better.
