Was wondering what you guys think about window tint. Thinking about doing limo on the back, and not sure about the sides or windshield. Pics, and comments would be greatly helpful.
I have Formula One tint, 15 on the back and 35 on the sides. It keeps the car noticeably cooler and looks cooler too. Check your state's regs on what is legal for the sides. Most states limit how much tint you can put on the sides for the protection of LEO's when approaching a vehicle. I'm not sure tinting the windshield is even legal below the top few inches, but check your state regs for that as well. A reputable tint installer will know what you can do.
Find a good tint installer in your area as the rear window is not an easy install and the dot matrix at the top of the rear window makes it difficult to get good adhesion. It took my installer over an hour just to do the rear window. Even with a good installer you will probably have some air gaps around the dot matrix at the top of the rear window unless you sand them down (not recommended per posts I've seen on the Forum) or use some sort of glue to give the tint film extra adhesion in that area. I chose not to do either and am pleased with the results, even with a few air gaps at the top of the rear. I'm sure you will be pleased too.
I've also got FormulaOne tint (see My Corvette Photos). It looks good, especially with my transparent roof, and helps keep the inside temp down. I recommend it. ---John
I recently traded my C5 for the C6. I had 20 on the sides and rear of the 5 and it worked real good and was still reasonable in the dark. I recently had the 6 done and the installer talked me into 35 for sides and rear which is technically the legal limit here in AZ. It works fine but I think the 20 would have been better. Personal preference I guess.

I have the same results. I have some air around the dots but it does not bother me. I took mine to the dealer. They marked the deal up but they also provide a lifetime no-fault warranty. So no matter how it happens, if the film is damaged they replace it. It also removes any risk of loss of warranty because the tinting company goes out of business. Of course these days I guess we have to worry about the dealer.
Just curious, may need to be a new topic. Has anyone tinted the rear of a convertable? I find the rear view mirror dimmer isn't strong enough and if I get a SUV behind me get major glare, plus it would be nice to be tinted during the day as well.

Yes, did the rear on my C5 Vert.. had the limo tint put on it and 35 on the sides. Been on a long time now and thinking of changing it out to same as have on my C6.. 15 all around..

just got my back done at 20%. would have got 10 but VA is a jerkweed about tinting and i dont need to give them a reason to pull me. 35% is legal here....on the back.. drv/pass even less...
i left the sides alone, i rarely drive at night, but if i do..i need that vision assistance...LOL.. 38 years of surfing with no eye protection has taken its toll on me.
