Default Nav Disc Update - no problem!

If you have free updates on the NAV Discs, here is the number to call:

1-877-NAV-DISC (1-877-628-3472)

They verified the VIN # and address and reported it will be shipped by UPS (currently back ordered though). They were efficient and friendly and only took 2-3 minutes total.

I did not have to pay anything and did not have to give them a credit card number at all.

Good Luck,

Scott

You get one per year. Mine is an '06 and I did not get one in 07, so even though I am supposed to get two free updates, I only get the one for 2008. So don't delay, thinking you can get one every 2-3 years. It is one a year for 2 consecutive years.

Apparently the updates are still on back order. At least that is what they tell me.

My 2006 comes with 2 updates, one in 2007 and one in 2008. After that you are on your own. So for your 2005, you may have missed the boat, but call them to check. You may slip under the wire, depending on when it was originally sold. For 2006 and 2007 years, there should not be a problem. I heard that either 2008 or 2009 cars did not come with the free updates, so call to check.

So what's on the updated disc? Are there any core system updates? Or just new maps with new POI's?

2006 and 2007 model years are entitled to 2 (two) upgrades.

You can check, but my understanding is that 2005, 2008, and 2009 are not included in the entitlement.

Scott: Did you get a 2008 or a 2009 disc? I know they're getting ready to give 2009's because they're almost our of 2008's.

New maps . . .

That's what the lady told me when I first talked with the Nav Disc Center.

Correct on the '08 model year, no free updates. My car came with Ver. 4.0 so I'm fairly current.

I ordered it today, and they are back ordered. They gave me a confirmation (order) number and said it will be filled as soon as they get them. I will have to wait and see if I get a 2008 or 2009. If I waited any longer, they may have said that it was too late, so I decided to order it.

you will have to buy the updates for your 2005. Go to the nav website and you can order it. As a matter of fact, you can save a bunch of money if you order last years update instead of this years.
you will need your vin # when ordering (http://www.gmnavdisc.com )

I have a 2007. In May of 08 I got my first free upgrade. It was labelled 4.0. In Sept 08 GM sent me another card again looking to upgrade. They were still giving out the 4.0 version. I told them they sent that one to me in May and please don't send me another. As far as I'm concerned they still owe me one. We'll see what happens.
