Just put the top down for the first time and noticed that there is line blemish behind each seat on the bubble part of the hatch that conceals the lowered top. looks like a factory defect as it is in the identical spot behind both seats. I tried to rub it out with polishing compound, goo gone, all purpose cleaner etc.--but to no avail. Anyone else have this or I am the only luccky one. certainly it will be covered by warranty, but just curious. Thanks
Are you getting a wear mark from the black cloth piece that protects the tonneau cover when the top is up? Put your top up and see where it makes contact.
You are exactly correct. The elastic on the leading edge of the canvas that goes on top of the tonneau when the top is up is causing the wear marks on each bubble of the tonneau. it is particularly visible because my car is arctic white.
I would bet that every convertible owner has the same issue. I am surprised that I have not seen this mentioned before. Any TSB for the above problem

I was able to clean mine up with a clay bar and a few coats of Zaino. So far it has been OK. I don't know if there is a TSB on this.
My vette is only 8 days old and has about 150 miles on it. had u thought about putting down a piece of masking tape before raising the top and then removing it when u put the top down.

You should not have to put tape on the tonneau cover for protection. GM should have a softer fabric at that spot.
My car is silver and I wipe the tonneau daily. I just took a look as my top stays down most of the time. I have no marks as you describe. I can't even picture how that cover could leave a mark. Mine is very soft. Good luck.
I called my dealer and made sure they had the car I wanted before I went there, so my Machine Silver vert was presented to me for the test drive with the top down. The first thing I noticed was two foot-long dark brown lines on the tonneau cover as you described. It looked like it was baked into the paint from having the top sit on it for an extended period of time. The salesman assured me that it'll be addressed. On a subsequent visit, it was done to my complete satisfaction. No need to worry.
To be happy - you have to forget about everything except performance.
Corvettes are a Chevy produced by GM - which, by the way. is worth absolutely nothing - and going down in value as I write this.
This car (as well as all GM products) are filled with sub-par "plastic" items - they have successfully fooled all of us; however, payday (or lack of it) is coming to GM. And they 100% deserve it.
If they get bailed out to save the jobs of overpaid - unskilled workers, I will never buy another GM product as long as I live. And, I am betting I live longer that GM - as we know it.
