Engine Light
Took the C6 (2006 8500 miles) out for a drive today in the Boston area and sometime during the trip I noticed the engine light had illuminated. All the gauges looked fine, engine temp. oil pressure etc. Do you think this is tied to the gas cap that I know needs to be replaced but my dealer didn't have one when I went in a few weeks ago.
What are the most common triggers for that warning?

Yes a loose gas cap could trip the CE light. Sounds like you already know your gas cap is bad? So a good bet that's the reason. But CE light could be for any number of things (MAF, O2 sensors, misfire, etc) Most all related to emissions and things like that. If the condition that caused the CE light no longer exists the next time the OBDC runs the diagnostic check, the computer should clear it and light will go out.
