last weekend we went from D/FW area and back with lots of spirited driving at the event, some at high speed thru the twisties. i averaged 23.6 mpg for a 980 mile trip.
the car drives like a dream on any roads, especialy interstates. w/ cruise you could very easily get 28 mpg on the hwy.

oh well. i made a mistake and if it costs me a few thou to fix it, then so be it.
thats pretty good mileage, i get about 22 on the highway with my srt8. how long do you drive at a pop, before having to take a break??
It's a fantastic road-trip car as well - TONS of storage space.I will say, though, that my enjoyment of the car depends a lot on the quality of the road surface (I've got the more stiffly-sprung Z51 "sport" handling suspension).
That being said, before you buy, you'll want to seriously consider the three suspension options offered on a C6 Vette:
Base - very good all around use
F55 (driver selectable suspension control - a system that I believe GM sold to Ferrari for use in their road cars; I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this
)Z51 - more road course, track day oriented (also has different transmission gearing).
The only other potential "negatives" are expensive tires (about 2 grand per set if you chose to replace the factory Run-Flats; probably not that different than your SRT8), and, always making sure the car has the proper alignment settings. Even a brand new Vette straight from the factory may not have the front wheels aligned correctly.
Good luck with your Vette search; take your time and enjoy this forum - tons of first-hand experience here.

Only real downside is dealing with tires. They are expensive and, since they are such large sizes, the particular size needed often goes out of stock. Do not wait until the last minute when the tires are getting bad or you may end up buying whatever is available, instead of what you want.
Good luck selling the SRT-8 (cool car!) and good luck getting a Vette.
Wife and I took our '09 Cyber Gray F55 Convertible out for a 4 1/2 hour, 250 mile drive. Stopped only once to throw out our drinks and go to the washroom (out of the car 5 minutes tops).
Out of all the Corvettes I've owned, this one with the F55 suspension is the best!
What else ya gonna get that has 430HP, paddle shifters, comfortable leather seats and rides like a Lexus.
HOWEVER the real reason i want the vette is speed!, the quickest time ive had my charger down the quarter mile is 13.02 @108. and it will top out around 173ish....(not that ive ever done that
) i thought it would be good to have the 2 extra doors, just in case, but i have only had 1 person in the back seat since january....hmm....

nothing like 400 plus hp
BTW, in 2008 (and 2009) drilled rotors come with Z51 Performance Handling Package and F55 Magnetic Ride Suspension.
The Z51 option package comes with drilled rotors, front and rear. The rotors are also slightly bigger than stock in the front. Additionally, Z51 cars will have a transmission cooler, oil cooler, stiffer shocks, thicker sway bars, and stickier Goodyear Run-Flats (Goodyear "Supercar" vs Goodyear GS-2) and the different gearing as mentioned earlier. The Z51's have a pretty short first gear for around town use but it's no biggie. I'm not a drag racer so I don't know if that helps or hurts a good launch.
The trade-off for most of the goodies in a Z51-equipped car is a net effect of a slightly harsher ride. It doesn't bother me because I prefer the handling edge the whole package provides, AND, the roads I drive on are generally smooth so harshness is a non-issue.
Hope this helps. Now go out and get that C6!
