Default LS3 powered Camaro

This would make a nice stable mate to our vettes - http://www.camaro5.com/

I know that dealers will be allowed to start actually selling them today and dealers will have the full and complete pricing, options and colors in their on-line system. Does $30K sound to good to be true for an LS3 powered SS???

I'm leary.

You can buy a Pontiac G8 with close to an LS3 right now for that price, so I see no reason the Camaro wouldn't be about the same. It's going to be a fun car for the money, but I can't stomach the dash in the Camaro.

It'l be $38k unless they offer an SS stripper (like a 1LE). Still might be one of the best camaros to come around in decades, but I didn't wait because a $40k vette seems better than a $40k 2-ton touring coupe. It would be cool to have both, but my other hot rod is an awd turbo 4 cyl.

wife wants a Vert when they come out. i think these things will be a dime a dozen on the road like the Stang. I just hope it doesn't end up becoming the Rental Car King.

In this market and economy,I'd be surprised if they sell half of what they think they will!!This car took 100 years to come to market and now the market is weak and getting weaker!

Just returned from my local Chevy dealer. I placed an order for my son who is in Iraq and due back next April. Here's what he ordered:

RPO Code MSRP Price
2SS 34,180
WRS 1,200

Total 35,380 + destination

He has a 2005 Caddy STS he's trading in.

This field trip has peaked my interest. $35K for a nicely option Camaro SS (422HP, Bembro brakes, HID, Bluetooth)

Paid MSRP, was hoping they'd discount as heavily as they are doing for the vette, but I couldn't get them to budge.

The SS Camaro would be a nice addition to the stable but for now the Vette is all I need and want. Best of luck to you should you make the move.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. The G8 GT has the 6.0 liter V-8 with 361 hp and the upcoming G8 GXP has the 6.2 liter V-8 with something like 402 hp. I looked at a G8 GT this weekend with the leather and sport packages and the sticker was right at $33,000. It looks like a nice daily driver.

$8,000 for 2 more cylinders! Who would have ever thought a Chevy V8 would command such a premium over a 6. I paid $800 for a complete forged crank long block assembly a couple years ago. Good luck to them, but $31k for a Camaro is ridiculous, even with today's dollarettes. $23k for a V8 Camaro might have been a winner, if the car weren't so fat and pig ugly, but they've priced themselves right out of the mullet market with this one.
