Default Billet ?

Just curious, why are the billet door sills so expensive? And for that matter all this billet stuff?

A billet is a chunk of metal, mostly associated with aluminum. Something made from billet aluminum is carved or machined from a solid piece of aluminum. Many manufactures use the term for anything made from aluminum. For example, the rocker sill plates are not billet aluminum. They are stamped from sheet metal, not carved from a block of metal. Billet is very widely misused term used to move product. Now you know.

Exactly...many use the term "billet" to describe things that "appear" to be made from billet. Making something like a sill plate out of billet would be silly....it doesn't need to be strong and the metallurgy of it is almost meaningless, the looks are the only important feature.
