NAV Disc updates

I have an 05 C6 and I am told by GM that it will cost me $199 to get a NAV Disc update. This seems a ripoff. Is this correct and if so can I buy an update anywhere else for less money?

The latest version is $199. A year old version is $59.

You probably don't need a new one every year.
The price is really not bad considering all of the cost of updating the map which is a continual process and required hundreds of people driving around every road in the U.S. and Canada to map and feed in new data. It's more than just a plastic disc.
Compare this to some of the computer programs for sale - not really a ripoff.
