I've posted in the past about what I think is the weak area of a C6...the seats!
I drove a C6 Z51 six speed manual the other day and just loved the car. But the seats sucked. This is the only reason I've not bought into Corvette ownership.
I see that GM is going to offer optional Recaro seats in the upcoming CTS-V. Man those would be wonderful in a Corvette! Why can't GM at least offer Recaro style seats as an option in an otherwise world class car?
For now I'll have to stick with my European cars as they have generally wonderful seats. The seats in my '06 GTI shame the seats in the C6.
Please no flaming...I'm only stating my opinion and wishes.
From: Stafford VA, home of our wolf den. No house break ins to date.
the seats in my 08 Solstice GXP and 05 GTO were "beefier" and more "elaborate" than my new C6.. but these seats seem adequate, they are comfortable, and light... and thats what this car is all about, being light..... time will tell on wear and tear I guess.

i would agree they are not the best out there. Its surely a preference thing. A friend of mine has an M5 (90k car 520 HP) another has a 911 turbo (95k hp?) and the seats are worse IMO, so I suppose that its not a high priority to alot of manufactures when it comes to sports cars..most are pretty average. Alot would argue that its all about performance but when one spends thats much one does expect a little creature comforts.
Just a thot but My geuss is you were driving a "1LT" ? you may want to try a "2lt" version,,,,the seats are better alot of guys think.
good luck and noone should flame you for this, IMO
what are you telling us David, you can't afford a BMW eithier and you drive a VW GTI? Do you go to the BMW forums and tell them how their seats suck compared to a lambo?

I thought this forum was for corvette owners . Who cares what you think. You are an idiot . Go somewhere else....
I have spend more than $5000 on the interior and continue to make improvements, GM could have spend less than half that and had a great interior. Again just my thought on the issue.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Of course you are entitled to your opinion and welcome to share it. This being a Corvette forum as you would expect, not everyone will share your thoughts. Further, we've recently undergone a rash of repetive complaints about the seats of all things so some may be reacting out of frustration for the overwhelming mantra that we've had to endure.
One of the issues that GM (or any auto manufacturer) faces with replacing the seats is that they are considered a safety component of the car and in making changes, substitutions or replacements to the seats the car will need to undergo safety and crash testing to validate the occupant safety impact of such a change. In light of the economic conditions and sluggish sales, that just won't happen. While we need to express our wishes they may not be able to be addressed until a model change when all of those tests would need to be re-run anyway.

Woah, c'mon that's a bit harsh.
Yes the line about sticking with his European cars doesn't make much sense since the GTI clearly doesn't match up to a Corvette in any way shape or form.
Bottom line to the OP, if you don't like the seats that much, guess what - you CAN change them out with aftermarket replacements.
I have an 09 4LT coupe and love the seats. Comfortable, great looking, and great quality. My sister's 06 BMW 5 series has premature wear on her seats. This is incredible as the car has only 30,000 miles and she weighs only 115lbs. Lucky she knows the BMW dealership owners wife as they are replacing the seat for her.
Another reason I love the C6 seats is that Car & Driver and Road & Track hate them as they are truly biased against all US autos. They love putting the Vette on the cover to sell the rags and then proceed to euro-trash the Vette.
