Hello All, I'm looking for my first Corvette. Yes, fulfilling a life-long dream. I've found a 2007 with 20k miles for $40k at a NH dealer. It has removable hard top roof. I'm going to see it this weekend. Does anyone have time to give me advice? What should I look for/ask? Does this year and model have any quirks to be aware of?
Thank you very much. It is SO exciting to be an (almost) Corvette owner.

too bad you didnt do this last month, you could land a brand new 08 or 09 for a just a few k more during gm's employee pricing spree... oh well... hind site..LOL...
c6's either come in coop: removable hard top, or convertable's... the z06 is a fixed hard top...that that roof thing is not an "option" per say.
good luck on your find and purchase. I'll let the LS2 vette folks answer you on 'probs'... ive only been a c6 owner a short while myself... having climbed up from the Pontiac Trans Ams, Firehawks, Comp T/A's, Solstice gxp, and GTO..... LOL.. and boy ..I should have done it years ago.

Ask a fellow CF member for a GM VIS (Vehicle Inquiry System) report on the car. Also get a carfax.com report to see about any title issues, accident issues, ever stolen, etc.
Remember there is a glut of Vettes out there so you are in the driver's seat with the purchase. Make sure you are not overpaying for the car. You haven't described the models, options or trim level but it seems I recall seeing '08 Coupes 3LT for low 40's. That would give you the LS3 and another year of warranty.
Anyway, welcome to the club and enjoy whatever you get.
Use this info to get a great deal on a new, 2008, LS3, Z51, NPP, Corvette. If you read up on the changes for the 2008/2009 Corvettes you'll want one. Good luck and happy shopping. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2094164

ps. i can run that vin for you on gm's data base, I have access at my job.
I have a 2007 also, have not had any problems I think the LS2 is as bullet prof as the LS1 was, with 20K miles I would be shur the tires are new if not make a set of tires part of the deal also take a look under the car as best you can. Bassspring

That sounds like the 07 that is in the used showroom at MacMulkin in Nashua... It is a nice car, I looked at it, but ultimately I went with an 09. If it is the one at MacMulkin, make sure you talk to Tommy Jr. or Ron, they are both great guys, and they will treat you right. If it isn't the one at MacMulkin, I strongly suggest you go talk to them before you buy anything. Good luck, you'll love it once you get behind the wheel.
Good luck on your quest. Financing is really tight right now. My buddy went to trade his 05 coupe on an 09 vert. The dealer low balled his car and could not get financing for less than 20% down. He walked! hope you have better luck.
$40k is too much for an '07 with 20k miles, unless it's a loaded convertible (even then maybe a bit high). Especially considering winter storage is only a month or so away. Plus, the economy sucks, money is tight, people are pressed for cash. It's the best Buyer's market for 'Vettes that I have ever seen. Might get even better after Jan 1st.
Then, if you still just gotta have that particular '07, you should be able to do better than the $40k asking price. You're in the driver's seat. Offer a lot less and see what they say.
Wow, thank you all for such fast and helpful response. I am very grateful for this experienced insight. We're hoping to drive that '07 this weekend. It's hard to know if we'll have more fun with convertible or more powerful Z06. Right now I drive a Prius (did I just get myself voted off the island?) so 400hp in convertible might keep the grin on my face. Black and standard transmission are a must.
Yes, it is the one in Nashua. Thanks for the advice. My wife and I are going to see it this weekend. Do I need to run the VIN? Sounds like you trust these guys and it's not necessary?
Thanks for your help.
Yes, we do trust those guys. Still, it is a lot in my opinion.
If it's at the dealership we all think it is, have them show you the VIS and a carfax, and read both.
Today being Friday, you don't have a lot of time betw. now and when you go to look at the car, but keep searching all the various venues including this site's C6 Cars for Sale. At least a couple people in this thread have cars for sale and have said so.
Know the difference before you get there in an '07 vs. an '08 or an '09 for that matter. Or, if you're really going there just to familiarize yourself with a first-look at a Corvette, that's fine, too. In other words, no decisions and no purchase this weekend, just your first look and first drive. Otherwise, this is an impulse purchase if you ask me, and that's not always the greatest way to make a $40K purchase.
