Default Corsa question

Took my Sports off of my 05 6 sp manual (no Corsa x pipe) and put them on my new 2008 paddle shift. I am trying to decide if I need the Corsa x pipe. The factory 08 pipe seems similar in construction to the x pipe shown on the Corsa web site. However, the idle noise and cruising noise seem to be louder than before. Will the Corsa x pipe help or will I spend $500.00 for no real change?

An x-pipe is an x-pipe, I think when it comes to spending a lot of money to replace one you might already have.......though there are those that seem to be better made for scavenging side to side than others.......Take a look at Bassani's if you want to see a well made one, with a custom made center "X" section. Some of those that call theirs an X-pipe are just two pipes that have had a small piece of their side section cut out, and then bent together and welded -- no real scavenging like a 'real' one....

Do you think changing out an X-pipe is worth 500.00 dollars?

I can think of better mods to blow 500 on. Like a custom tune.

The H pipe is what goes on for the A6 application. If you look close it has the long thin cans in the pipeline. Supposedly that is integral to the lack of drone in the A6.

if anyone's going to know, it'd be Corsa. call them and ask the question; they're really good guys. if not them, ask them if they know a shop that might have done it for a customer.

Your factory x pipe is fine. There will be no difference if you swap out the factory X pipe for the Corsa one. The Touring system has the resinators that eliminate the drone. That system is quiter that either the sport or extreme systems.

The x-pipe will do nothing for you. Your 2008 all ready has an x-pipe, changing from your's to a Corsa will have zero impact. You are dealing simply with an exhaust that was engineered for a specific engine and intake/exhaust volume and you are now likely getting resonance as the frequencies are different as is the airflow volume in going from an LS2 to an LS3 and going from a manual to an automatic. Aside from the mechanical differences in fitment, this is one of the reasons that exhaust companies will have a different exhaust for manual transmissions and automatic transmissions. The rpm range where the car will cruise is slightly different and as such vibration or drone is possible.

That is not true. As stated above in my reply, the "H" pipe that is for the A6 specifically, has the long thin cans built into it. It is completely different from the "X" pipe. They are not the cans for the Touring system that you can add, and you speak of above. Corsa will tell you that the "H" pipe is what is responsible for lack of drone on the A6 application.

I understand you have an LS3, and my comparison is going to be with 2 LS2's:

One of my friends has an '06 with corsa sports, and corsa's x pipe, and I have an '07 without the x-pipe. There seems to be no difference in sound level or quality, and neither has any drone.

Thanks for all the input. I have emailed Corsa to see if there are any differences in the design for the LS2 vs. LS3. I will post their answer.
