i was coming home friday, heavy traffic, unable to change lanes, myself and a couple other cars ran over somebody elses crap in the road. happened to be a couple of bricks. hit it dead on w/ the front driver tire. busted a belt in it but no blowout. i now have a big bulge on the in/out of the tire. luckily i purchased the road hazard from tire rack when i bought these. they will replace the tire and shipping cost.
problem, the firestone wide ovals are on a national backorder. what to do....i call them, they offered to give me 20% off a new set of front tires and cover the cost of shipping. i need the car so i said lets do it. went w/ the kuhmo ecsta spt xrp which is the runflat version for the vette.
since the backorder is out of there control, i feel they did the best they could to make me happy. plus, i will be getting the $200 back from the road hazard warranty.
down side, i have firestones on the rear, and will have kuhmo on the front. and 1 good firestone sitting in the garage for the next time i need a set of front tires.
It sounds like the perfect excuse to buy another set of wheels to me! You can't be having mismatched tires or (heaven forbid) an unmounted high performance tire. One set for track and one for street or summer/winter,or one for show and one for daily duty.
I have ordered tires and wheels from tirerack a few times, nothing but great service. My last set of wheels had a defective center cap. I phoned them up, no questions asked they had one out to me the same day, no charge, of course.

Couldn't agree more. I'll go one better. I ordered non-run flats for my 06 and the first thing the next morning got a call from TireRack dude (who knew his sh11t, btw). He just wanted to know that I knew they were no-run flats - Kumho ECSTA's
When I purchased my set I had to wait for 3 weeks for them to arrive. While discussing availability on the day of installation (mid sept) the rep indicated that they had ordered 2 extra sets just in case. Ya might try them:

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. It's good to know where to go when you need to replace these highly specialized and sometimes difficult to get tires.
Not only is their mail order service good, If near South Bend you should stop in their facility. I'm fortunate to live less than an hour away from them so when I need tires for any of my vehicles I take it there. The show room displays are first rate with every wheel they offer and their service area is spotless. Not a lift in the place, they use floor jacks and hand wrenches. They treated my explorer like it was a Ferrari. They hand torque everything. All this and the best prices in town. Several car clubs have autocrosses on their test track. I think I'll have to join their local chapter to use the facility.
My last daily driver would keep getting bubbles in the sidewalls from hitting potholes. I replaced 3 of them in a year. Luckily, I purchased the road hazzard protection from TR. They replaced all 3 tires and after dealing with the warranty company it never cost me a cent. I love dealing with TR and will continue to do so.
My experiences with Tire Rack have also been superior. I recomend them without hesitation.
Luke from Tire Rack posts here sometimes. If you want to buy some tires shoot him a PM or call thema nd ask for him. Great customer service,a nd he really knows his chit.
I got to see their shop too. Oldschooler07 is absolutely right -- no impact wrenches or torque sticks. They use real torque wrenches on the lug nuts. I got the quarter tour of their upstairs shop where they assemble the multi-piece wheels. I teach auto shop pert-time and I learned a few things from them. Great folks who will make you feel like part of the family -- and a forum vendor also.
