Stoped by a local bmw meet which has more riced out hondas then there are bmw's..but there are a handfull of people that go with some nice rides...even a few vettes one of the guys there traded in his 997 turbo for the new GTR..of course the crowd was all around it..
make a long story short..what ever the mags might tell you about how fast this car is, being the "Zo6 eater" its well ...my LS3 with 410rwhp/405rwtq A6, WALKED it in a drag...set up by the bmw charity run to bear mountain(closed roads) went from a 40 roll to about 150 and had him by atleast 5 cars
Sure the GTR is no slouch but much of it is hype to help boost sales. Porsche even came out with a statement a few weeks ago accusing Nissan of inflating the numbers. Like I said, the GTR is a good run at performance by Nissan but is not cracked up to be all that.
I think the race may have turned out different if the gtr could have used its launch control. That is if the transmission held up. I heard thats a 20k fix.
Is it true that using launch control voids the warranty on the GTR? I thought I had read something to that effect. I also had heard that if the nav senses that the car is on a race track, it resets the nannies to allow the car to perform properly, then voids the warranty. Maybe BS, but fun rumors.
I read in more that one car mag that Nissan filled the GTR's intercooler with dry ice to pump up their numbers. Cold air makes a hugh difference with FI cars.

Someone here posted a link from a GTR forum and one of the owners said it was true and he was not happy.
Autoweek had a story about 3 issues ago on the GTR and how, at least for the Japanese market cars, they're governed to 131 mph. You can have that limit removed, but only if the cars GPS senses that the car is at an "...approved race facility." After you track the car, you have to take it back to the dealer for an inspection and to have all of the nannies reset.

I read that link. We have here a really fast car that eats its $20,000transmission and automatically voids its warranty if you drive it fast. Or you can have a faster car for less money made by people who encourage you to drive it fast (at the track, of course). Duhh, I think I'll buy the GTR
Not to mention the car is sorta ugly and will never be a classic like almost all, if not all of the rice cars before it.
I finally saw a GTR at my local Nissan dealership. It is UGLY. And they want 100K for the car. Needless to say, it will be at the dealership for a LONG time. It is a BIG car. The interior is pretty nice. No way I would give my corvette up for that car. I even had people tell me that my C6 looked alot better than the GTR.

Then what's the point of launch control if you can't use and you can ONLY get the fast times using the feature? Pointless as **** on a bull.

Good story.
Don't really know what all the hype is about.
These cars are too damn big and ugly and I don't think they are as fast as everyone says.
I can't wait to run into a GTR at the local drag strip one day.
But wait, if they use launch control the warranty is void??
What kind of BS is that?
The real performance numbers on the GTR will slowly come out as more hit the tracks. How much of a "RINGER" did Nissan use to come up with their performance numbers? Well it will all be proven over time because it is.. what it is!
GM could have done endless tweaks to improve the Z06 numbers at the ring or anywhere else for that matter. If Nissan did indeed screw the pooch there are going to be lots of very unhappy GTR owners. Imagine paying 100k and getting smoked by a stock late model C6? Or being BLOWN away by a Z06? How could anyone explain that after the performance numbers we've seen published?
I suspect Nissan has been less than honest with the real numbers a stock run of the mill GTR can actually generate. It will however all come out for public consumption when some of them get in head to head competition with cars like the Z06......... It's going to be a lot of fun to watch and see what happens...
Here are multiple pulls from various speeds (some with launch control) taken in Oman on a closed course between a new GT-R and a C6-Z06. The results are consistent.
