Default dimmer switch, how does yours operate

the dimmer switch on my 09 seems like its not working right (or i'm an idiot and dont know how to use it)
it will turn the inside lights on but doesnt dim anything, whether i push it pull it or hold my tounge just right.
Does anyone have a similiar year and how does yours operate? i would think it should at least dim the dash lights and radio maybe? thxs, paul

Hanny;

You need to turn and hold, it will then dim. I have forgotten at the moment if you need to push in, turn and hold, but holding the turn is the key.

Instrument Panel Brightness
The **** for this feature is located on the left
side of the instrument panel.
Push the **** in to turn on the interior lights.
Turn and hold the **** clockwise to brighten
the lights or counterclockwise to dim them.
During the day, this **** will adjust the instrument
panel brightness and at night will adjust all interior
lighting. Be sure not to have this **** turned all
the way down with the lamps on during the day.
Your Driver Information Center (DIC) may not be
visible.

Are your head lights on? I think it may only adjust the dim if it thinks its dark outside.
