Default M2W learning computer question

How does the computer adjust so fast to the exhasut being opened and closed? If drive easy and the valves never open what happens when you get on it and they open up? We all know it takes the comp alitle time to adjust to the more airflow with new catbacks and intakes. Someone explain how this works please. You would think you would not gain any power with them open because the comp would have to learn the new more airflow

The computer is not re-learning anything. You are only talking about a 6hp gain with the flaps open and this is due only to a reduction in backpressure. Don't know that anyone has ever really measured the 6hp gain that GM claims anyway.

what Im saying is anytime you add better airflow or take away airfow the computer needs proper time to relearn it properly. If you constintly going from open to closed the comp has no time to learn anything

As noted above, it's less back pressure when the flaps are open. No extra air is entering through the front unless you've add a cold air intake or swapped out the stock air filter element for a K&N or the like. I don't think the computer has to re-learn anything when the M2W is playing with the flaps. I only use my M2W to show off a little at club meetings or when driving under a highway overpass.

I don't think there is much "re-learning" taking place. If anything, the computer is able to quickly (instantly) measure back-pressure and make whatever adjustments would be necessary. I don't think any adjustments are necessary, though. And if they are, it's "seamless" and in the background.

Keep in mind, too, there is very little change in the amount of back-pressure. The exhaust louver that's opening and closing is right at the end of the exhaust system and really only effects the tone of the exhaust IMO. I believe the 6 hp gain comes from the design of the NPP exhaust, not the louver being open (or closed).

Most likely better asked in the tech section but the engine is constantly monitoring and adjusting. The O2 sensors do the monitoring. M2W has little to do with the question since the OEM operation have them opening and closing all the time.

The "relearning" you are talking about is the ECU adaptation that occurs after disconnection of the battery.

The slides (Talon90 I think) that have been posted here show the NPP is working off straight non-adjustable tables. It works the same after reconnecting the battery as it does if it hasn't been a power loss in years.
