Default Nav Disk

Can anyone tell me if the NAV disks are specific to each GM vehicle - for example will a NAV disk from a tahoe work in a vette? If not why?

I thought we went through this about a week ago? I can tell you that they are not interchangable from a 2004 Tahoe with Factory Nav to a 2005 C6, I tried the C6 in my Tahoe and the Tahoe in the C6 and it didn't work either way.

I know that this was discussed before and they are not user friendly - but why aren't they?

So they can find a new way to make people spend more money?

I also know Lexus does the same, I tried swapping 2 different disks in 2 cars and they would not work.

If you do a good search for the Corvette V5 disk (25976806) you get hits that say it's a Cadillac. The V4 disk (25852830) comes up with some Gran Prix STS links. So I think the Corvette NAV discs are compatible with other models, you just have to know which ones.

They are not specific to "each" vehicle but there is very limited interchangeability car to car, make to make and model to model. There is further limitation on anything working with the Corvette as it is one of the oldest remaining navigation units in the line.

There are one or two Cadillac parts that will work in the Corvette nav radio.

Boy, I'll say! My friend was showing me his new Infinity last week and his Nav unit just blew me away. Maybe we will get an upgrade next year.
