Is it harmful to rev your z06 engine?

Since I got my 08 z06, everyone and their mother is always asking me
to hear the engine exhaust with the fuse pulled.
I got married this month and had a lot of parties so I been revving my
z06 pretty frequently.
My question is..is it harmful to just turn my z06 on and rev the engine once to like 6500rpm's in neutral and turn it off so people can hear it?
I know this is a pretty tough car and it built to handle things hard but so far this month I have revved my engine to like 6500 rpm's just to let people hear it like 4 or 5 times.
I just want to make sure I'm not F****** up anything.
Thanks

I used to own several gen one Camaros , a couple of 396s and 302s all factory original. At shows people were always asking me just to start the car and let it idle. They'd go to the rear of the car just to smell the exhaust.
If you don't understand this you think V8s are supposed to smell like sulfer and other exotic chemicals. The old V8s sounded must better at idle too no matter the type of muffler.
I'd say, only from what I read, that you should not rev your Z06 until it's warmed up otherwise you might break a valve spring.

As far as revs go you already seen some great advice. Once it wamed up (oil temp that is) and under a load you can rev it right to the red marks on the tach. Have fun

Maybe you should figure out why your 50 and drive a C6 when I'm 26 with a z06.
Maybe...you should quit posting irrelevant dumb responses in topics if you have no substantial information to contribute.
I asked a question and I got some great responses from people who actually have knowledge.
As for you trying to be a comedian...
FAIL.

Pisses me off too when you ask a question and some clown has to be condescending.

Your post trying to sell an 07 vette is hilarious.
Some things didn't add up in this post as well.
Also, I haven't seen a real picture of your 'black 08 z06' except outside of Domani motors in the exact same location as they shoot all of their auction cars they put on the internet. I mean, you bought some nice new black wheels for it right? Why don't you post a recent pic of it with your new wheels?
I think either you're living your z06 dreams through a friend/parents car, you're a complete troll or just plain stupid. I actually hope it's not the last one.

As long as the motor is up to normal operating temp, revving it isn't going to hurt a thing. It's not that fragile.
Don't do it to a cold motor.
Speaking of 302 DZ motors I won a $100 bet once revving one up. This was probably 20 years ago at a cruise in, I had a 302 DZ with a tunnel ram. The talk was about how high they revved. This one guy doubted that it would hit 10 grand. I said $100 says it will, fired it up and stood on the throttle - instant 10 grand. He said my tac had to be off, so we got his tac and I did it again. Those were incredible motors, kick myself for selling that car.

lol come on, relax guys.
btw; own, pwn, ownt, pwnt, burn, etc... aren't teen/childish words. 24 yr old z06 driver here and I use them often. It's just part of our generation. And come on, nothing is funnier than someone posting a pic w/ a paper and name on their car for sake of argument lol. its so classic internet. like a meme in the making.

yea your car is probably shot, fixing to throw a rod. You'd better sell it to me for a very very cheap price. Hell, Christmas is coming up, I'll just go pick it up and get it out of your way.
EDIT:
I agree w/Hairbag. Once its warmed up, rev away. The z06 is basically a purpose built race car that you can run on the street. Beautiful car btw.

Like these guys said its not the best thing in the world. But unlike what most these guys imlpy, its not the worst..... People off the forums usually tend to make things seem like nothings a big deal and cars can take anything, people on the forums do the opposite and make everything seem like a big deal. The reality of it is somewhere in between. If I were you I would continue revving every once in a while for your friends/family, but just not take it past 5 k on the rev, because almost redline with no load is much worse.

Revving a cold engine, especially that high, is not kind to the internal metal parts. I would never rev past 3,000 rpm in neutral.
Definitely don't do this on a cold engine. Please!

i think i agree with the other guys that once the engine is warmed up, its fine so long as you don't bounce it off redline. in my younger days when i daily drove my 98 ford expedition (intake, headers, exhaust, etc..) man, i would rev it, bounce it off the redline, regularly perform neutral drops (lol i was 17), etc... 130k miles now and its still going strong. It has never broken down. fill it up with rifles whenever i go to the range and it still pulls strong. only special care i ever took was not revving while cold and regular synthetic oil changes.
