Default Tire issue

I live in Texas and its starting to get a little cold. I have noticed that when I start the care when its cold, it always says the pressure in the tires are low. And after I drive it about 10 to 20 minutes the tire pressure light will turn off. Can anyone tell me if I'm really low on pressure or its just the weather having the effect on the air in the tire. I only have about 2500 miles on an 08 Z06

I'd say you might be at the low side of acceptable TP. You never mentioned what the TP is cold or when they've warmed up? That will tell you what you need to do. I try to keep mine at 30 psi when warmed up which so far has produced excellent tire life. I have no idea if a Z runs a different TP than regular C6.....

I would buy a GOOD tire pressure gage and check the tires cold and when warm....... Having correct TP is critical to having good tire wear!

I would say your tire pressure is low. When you drive the tires heat up and the pressure increases to proper pressure. I agree that you should check them cold and air them to the proper pressure.

Tire pressure is affected by temperature. Pressure will drop approximately 1 pound for every 10 degree drop in temperature. As it gets colder you will need to add additional air to your tires. You should fill them to 30 psi cold pressure.

When the temps start to rise you will need to do opposite. Tire pressure is not a set it and forget it item.

I would add, having correct tire pressure is CRITICAL to your handling. It is also a potential lifesaver whenever you have a crisis/evasive maneuver situation. Think: Firestone and Explorer as one, small example.

Buy a very good tire gauge, and use it before you leave the garage, please.
