Had a really good 200 mile trip on the backroads of Arkansas Sunday, to the highest mountain in Arkansas. Mt Magazine 2753 ft to summit, lodge parking lot is about 100 feet lower.
If the photo comes through that's Oklahoma on the horizion, with the 07 Wista J in the foreground.
The 20 or so miles up the Mountain is full of fun turns, with a wooded canopy over most of the roadway.
Thank you to the kind motorist who flashed his headlights lights at me. It turned out to be a warning for a couple of bicycle riders attempting to ride on the nonexistant sholder in the blind spot of an approaching corner.
Oddly I didn't see another Corvette on the entire trip, so I waved at some kind of a BMW Vert and they waved back.

Sounds like fun, glad you had a good time! Out here 2753 feet is the bottom of a very deep valley...actually close to the elevation at the bottom of the Grand Canyon...great view from there also, but not in a C6!

We made the drive up Mt. Magazine a few weeks ago, great scenery, roads and lodge. Did meet another C6 when on the way back down. Cities we drove through on the trip; Cash, Pitts, Grubbs, Bald ****, Beebe, El Paso, Houston, Nimrod, Ola, Havana, Paris, and Delaware all in Arkansas!

That is a nice little run, also the northern half of Ar. 23 "Pig's Tail Trail" is a good trip.

Mt Magazine is directly north of you heading towards I40. It is near Paris Arkansas and should be south of Clarksville.

There are 2 ways to Mt Magazine. Highway 10 is south of the mountain, turn north at Havana for the trip up the Mountain from the south.
If your coming from the North I 40 exit at Ozark and follow signs to the park. (Northern entry)
I prefer the southern route, Hwy 10 from Little Rock, its 50 miles closer then I 40 from the north, and no interstate driving, all good back roads. If you want some twisty road driving you can drive all the way across from the south to north approaches from either side.
The lodge is at the top. It is new and really a nice facility. (In Arkansas that means they have indoor plumbing) Just kidding is is a super destination for a Sunday lunch from central Arkansas, or for overnight if your coming from out of state. Try Arkansas.gov website under state parks.

The Lodge at Mt Magazine is a super place for a club event. Try the arkansas.gov site for state park info, reservations ect.
Pettit Jean also has an older but renovated lodge at the Pettit Jean state park. The Museum is not like it was when the Rockefellow collection was there. Now they accept private cars for display, not a lot of good stuff but a good tour stop.
They just finished a confrence center at Winrock on the farm property with a really first class resturant and about 100 motel rooms that is available for meetings. I spent a couple of nights there last January sitting in front of the fireplace at the resturant. We were roughing it in a friends new RV at the camp ground on a 14 degree night.
All these locations are within 60 miles of each other so it would be a good place for a club outing.
If you need more info let me know.
