After setting off my alarm twice in 2 weeks, I did a search on this topic.
The scotch tape approach worked perfectly. The only problem on my 09 FOB was getting it open. The manual refers to a slot. Unfortunately, I didn't see any "slot".
I therefore pulled out the embedded key and pried open the casing from the inside. That worked. A small piece of scotch tape on the contact followed by a quick reassembly of the case and I was all set.
These are for the older FOBs, haven't seen any for the newer ones out there. My Caddy has one exactly like the newer Vette ones and I was always setting the alarm off so I took an old cell phone cover and made a FOB cover for it.
