Painting Calipers Red Tomorrow. Tips??

Here's 2 Tips for you:
1) Take your wedding ring off
2) Patience!
I painted the black mirrors on my Ducati 748 a while back, gloss yellow to match the bike.
Sanded the mirrors first with steel wool to scuff them up so the primer would stick... 2 coats. Then sprayed the mirrors gloss white as the undercoat so that the following 3 coats of yellow would "pop" with vibrance to match the bike.
I cant tell you how my impatience was joke, and between all of these coats I must have scuffed a mirror here or there and I couldnt figure out where it was coming from until I realized it was from my wedding ring! Doh!
Are you going to prime to calipers first? Because your going with red, I'd think a simple gray primer would be okay... color matching isnt crucial as red is red in your case, its just the calipers.
Are you going to clear coat over them?
I was suprised how well my mirrors turned out considering I used rattle cans... the key was wet sanding with 800grit wet sanding paper between clear coats and the final coat I buffed with "scratch remover" then polished with Zaino.
My first mirror I rushed, the second mirror after scuffing so many times, I learned my lesson and waited a full day between coats... before, first one I painted in the morning, then as soon as I got home from work the next coat.
They both looked great at first, but what I found is that by stacking coats too soon, although "dry to the touch", the paint isnt cured... one of my mirrors developed cracks throughout the clear coat... I attribute it to too many wet/uncured layers of primer/paint/clearcoat?
Anyway, patience!

Also added the Racemesh grille while up in the air. Thanks to the Donut Police.
This is the finished product of my ordeal. Pretty easy and inexpensive.
PM or post if you have any questions.

Why are some of the lettering (Corvette) white and others silver? Do you paint those also? I understand using chap stick on the letters, but what makes them have the color? do you sand them down before painting if so do you sand the white off?
These look good.

I thought someone mentioned Duplicolor as a brand. Do they have 'Vette specific color, or do you just grab the caliper paint off the shelf and wing it? Mine appear to be painted silver, but the red was/is always the hot looking color on these calipers.
Ok, so for the rotors; mine are rusty inside the wear surface from being washed daily and sitting on the dealer's lot. I'd like to shoot them with a non-descript color, maybe black. Is there a "correct" color, or is it just to taste? Are there some color schemes that look much better, like the red calipers?

Duplicolor is a brand.
I saw the kits in black and red. Didn't look for any other colors because I was doing red only.
Try www.duplicolor.com

Jack your car up and take off all wheels. I used no tape. Go around car, it takes 3 to 4 coats, as you get to wheel, paint will be dry enough for another coat. EASY !
No need for chap stick, just use a knife and/or sandpaper to take off paint on letters afterwards.
