Nah dude, you definitely wanna use some type of protective coat on the letters. I used vasaline applied by the back of my nail on my index finger. A nice little coat is all you need. Im sure chapstick would work great too. Once the paint is dried you just take a towel and wipe the letters and the excess paint comes right off. I painted mine black last night on a black 08 C6 and it looks badass.

Sanding or scraping the letters will ruin the finish on the letters....they're supposed to be smooth.

If you use any type of non-stick stuff on the letters, you run the risk of the edges not sticking correctly. What I did was while the paint was almost dry, I sliced it with a razor blade and the came out perfect (99%).

Default Painting tips

I used the G2 kit, but the process is the same. I also removed the brackets and painted them with a welding wire hook off the car. The calipers I hung from another hook (Still attached) and painted all over except where the pads mount. After, I used a razor blade to slice off the paint on the lettering. My advise is I would repeat the process exactly the same, takes more time but it is worth the extra effort.

I like the dual color look, bracket and caliber.

This is the finished product of my ordeal. Pretty easy and inexpensive.

PM or post if you have any questions.

Looks HOT with the Drilled Rotors!!! Screams RACE!

I went RED also. There's not better choice for calipers in my opinion.

West Coast Corvette. I thought they'd look good with the Chrome wheels.

However, I'm switching to gloss black wheels so I'm not sure how these are going to look.

It is absolutely unnecessary to use anything on the lettering. I painted mine with the Duplicolor kit (red) and painted right over the letters. The paint came off of the lettering very easily with a razor blade. Took less than a minute to remove it.

I painted over my letters also, but then took a rag with some gasoline and very carefully wiped the letters clean. Took less than 5 minutes and they look great.

I painted over the letters and then look a metal file, held it flat to the letters and filed the paint off. Worked great.

One tip I would recommend removing the brake pads.

Where did you find a color to match the yellow? I bought the yellow duplicolor spray but it doesn't appear to be a match, just curious before I start spraying. I have a 05 my

I did the Duplicolor Caliper Kit. I had access to solvent cleaning tanks, compressed air, and all the goodies.

They looked great untill the first washing with wheel cleaner to remove the brake dust. After that they always had a blacken tint.

Pwder coating may cost, but it will last and hold up to cleaners. Not to mention the results are out of this world.

Good luck with your project....don't forget the pictures
