Does it matter? I just go to samsclub and pic one up. As long as the bottom of the battery has the groove to clamp it down.

As I understand it, the Yellow top is a deep cycle discharge battery. That means it can be discharged to almost dead and will return to full capacity when recharged. The red top is a standard battery and will lose some recharge capacity each time it is discharged to near dead. Both are very good, but the yellow top battery is made to be discharged (like in an RV running the lights or refrig over night) and bounce right back to full capacity when charged back up. The red top might have more cranking amps, or higher sudden amp power delivery for starting your car. Depends how you use you car,,, storage,or driving.
just my 2 cents, and no tarp money to back it up

With the D34 you did the backwards mount like Bugman's example? I'm going to hit up CostCo or Pep Boys today for one of these and I'm trying to figure out if I really need to find a D35 for my '06...

Default Beware of Who You Buy It From!

I replaced the dead battery in my 05 corvette in May of this year. I ordered it through Amazon, right to my door. November 1st , this year the car is dead at church. I had to have it towed into the dealer.
The dealer calls me and says the battery isnt any good (bad cell) can replace it with a Delco 7yr battery for 219.00 and a non deductable of 4 yrs. I called Amazon and they told me to go direct to optima customer service. Talked with tech support, and they told me that Amazon must replace the battery and that the first level of support would normally refuse me. I argued through 3rd level management and they refused a new battery and said they would replace it only for the 1st. 30days after purchase. Called Optima back and pressed Button #3 which is "wanting to become a dealer for optima" and bingo get sales support, no waiting in que, etc. 20 minutes and so on. Sales is taking care of a replacement. This will take 10 days.
Moral: If you buy Optima fron sears or autozone, they will warranty a new battery regardless of the store you bought it at. hope this makes sense. I'm atill hott!

Unfortunately our local Sam's Club carries only Group 34 Optima batteries, not 35.

Me 2. Could not be happier with it. Though I did put a NakidParts.com Satin Black Battery Cover over it.

I use the D34 in my 2007 vert using the "Backward Mount" - IMO, it's a better choice since it has more reserve power than the D35.

You just rotate the battery sideways 180° and voilà . . .

However, while the D34 does have more reserve power, it is also a bigger battery and weighs almost 6 lbs more than the D35. This is why I kept with the D35 "frontward mount".
