Default Hood SHOCK REPLACE?

Went to open my hood today and realized I had to us a little more force. Opened the hood all the way, let go and BAM! The hood closed by itself. Looks like I got 2 failing hood shocks... Anyone know where I can find cheap replacements...

I went to GM PARTS HOUSE and found the item, however, it seems to be kinda pricey at 27 bucks a POP... Is this normal???

$27.00 ea.?? Sounds like your getting off real cheap for parts for a Vette. I wouldn't even blink at $27.00 ea.

Not sure about the Vette but some have a keeper snap ring like thing that allows the ball joint to pop off after it's removed.
$27.00 for factory equipment is by far your best option.
I helped a friend replace his on a Lexus, the first ones he purchased on ebay guaranteed to fit his year and model didn't. Ended up going to Lexus for factory replacements.

I'll bet that only one is bad...and the other one is fine but it can't hold the hood up by itself. I don't think $27 is bad for a strut that is so big...small ones are cheaper...

There is a forum vendor sell chrome ones for something around $100, so yeah $27 is a good price. YOu would have to go to a lot of trouble to find one cheaper with exactly the fasteners and keepers you need, correct length and pressure.
