Default first C6 experience

I gotta get me one of these!!

I'm in L.A. for a few days for work and grabbed up a Hertz C6 for the next 4 days. I went up to the counter and told the lady I'd be happy to take any convertibles off their hands since being california nobody rents verts

I was scheduled for some boring "standard" car. So after some back and forth (I need nav as I forgot my garmin) all she had available was a C6 (targa) with the hertz navi.

I love this car!! I did a short drive in a C4 years ago but this thing is just nuts. Definitely leaving the traction and stability control on!

So I had to go pimpin through Beverly Hills for a little while.

I'm going to have up to up my bi weekly car fund withdrawls from my paycheck so perhaps I can pick up a nice C6. Also gotta say I really liked the 6speed auto (I have only ever owned manuals). Other than the keyless entry/start fob thing I really like the car. They NEED some sort of over ride for that thing. I'm not really up on C6's so maybe that has been solved.

I'm using the birthday money from my father in law to cover the difference as if I tried to run that charge through the company they'd throw me out the door but it's sooooo worth it.

Whats wrong with the keeyless starting or entry... once you get used to it you can't live without it... I just walk to my car & it automatically unlocks, & I jump in and push the button to start it.. I never have to put my hand in my pocket...

Then when I'm done I push the OFF and get out walk away and it locks itself..

You can set it anyway you want so it wont lock when you walk away... if thats what you prefer... but I love not fumbling to put the key in to start it or open the door...

oah it's cool as hell while it's working right now but I would love to have a backup key or some sort of backup. Ran through the settings last time I was in it, made sure it locked when I walked away.

Either way it doesn't matter right now, it's just a rental

There is a backup key inside the fob.

There is a backup. You get two fobs when you buy the car. There is also a "fail safe" you can unlock the hatch with the key and there is a "port" in the glove box that you can insert the fob into if the battery is dead to start the car.

I hate the way my truck works since driving the vette all the time. gotta push the button when you walk up and when you walk away and you have to use a key! haha..

just noticed the little button on the fob that lets you unlock the key thanks for the info, the distance sensor thingie reminds me of Knight rider where it would read his finger prints then open the door... I'm sure this has been discussed by the C6 owners before though so I digress...

back to CFOT for me

Sounds like you have the Corvette fever and now is the best time to treat it, nothing but good deals out there.

Only one cure for this particular fever. And it's not 'more cowbell'!

If only the fob had the remote start option. I do like the auto locks.

I was actually thinking about that, an HHR I got stuck with in Utah had it, why can't the vette?

Yes I have the fever but alas I must save for a house before I can get near a nice used vette, maybe by then the C7's will be out and I can pick up a nice used C6..

Obviously, you have not experienced total failure of the fob receiving unit. The car is TOTALLY disabled and shuts down...waited 4 hrs for a tow. PLEASE BRING BACK THE KEY START!!
