Default Lowering questions

I have a 07 vert. How many inches can I lower it on stock bolts ? Also does it change the ride for better or worse ? Do I need to realign ?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Pete, i'm sorry. since it's black you can't lower it. you should have ordered a different color....like white. (i can lower mine 14-15" if i want)

I think stock bolts will max out around 3/4" to 1". It won't change ride quality. An alignment is probably not necessary if your lowering on stock bolts but I would recommend it. A good alignment (all 4 wheels) is not going to cost that much ( I get mine done annually and it runs around $120) and if you read around here most everyone finds their alignments all over the place ... even brand new from the factory. It's just money well spent.

What JJ meant to say was since its black, you really don't need to lower it to make it look any better and that those that don't have black lower theirs in a weak effort to try to make their car look as good as yours looks stock....

That said, I think its the same basically with C6 as with C5. I lowered my C5 almost as far as I could on stock bolts, which was about 3/4 to 7/8 inch. (I used this time to get everything as even as possible.) First, its very easy to do on stock bolts and there are lots of posts on how to do this.

I honestly didn't notice much ride different. And most people couldn't tell by looking but it you are used to looking, or you park next to another, non-lowered car.

I did not get my car aligned. I had it checked about 5.000 miles after lowering it and it was fine. That said, it can't hurt to have your alignment checked if you have a good alignment guy.

Last thing, I believe it you swap out the bolts so you can lower it beyond the factory range, you should get the car aligned.

I haven't lowered this one. Because its black, it doesn't need it ;-) plus I scrapped on a lot of seemingly small stuff in my area and am not now.

Give it a whirl. If you're a DIY guy, and you don't like it, you can just raise it back.

On my C6, the back lowered only 1/4" and the front went down 1 1/4". I ended up cutting the rear bushings to even out the drop. I would recommend an alignment. I'll pm you.
